| Combining historical heritage with modern conveniences Stone Mill Suites Historic Inn Hotel in Lanesboro, MN is the perfect lodging destination for romantic getaways or time well spent with the family.
This unique nineteenth century building was built using limestone quarried from the surrounding bluffs. Originally, the building was used as a cold storage facility where locally produced items were stored until they were shipped east on the freight train that was loaded directly behind the building. In the mid 1930's the building was home to Fosse Poultry and Egg Processing Plant. The last usage for the building was grain storage until October 1999 when renovations began to convert the mill into its present use as a Lanesboro overnight lodging destination. Much of the buildings distinctive history and features, such as clay tile ceilings and wrought iron pipe railings have been restored. Stone Mill Suites Historic Inn hosts four floors and nine individually themed rooms. Each theme reflects either the rich heritage of the building or the undeniable charm of Lanesboro. Each room has a queen bed (1 with a King), private bath, coffee station, microwave and mini-fridge. Other amenities may include lofts, iron-claw fireplaces, and two person whirlpool baths. | Crate Jacuzzi Suite - Many Lanesboro residents have commented that they most remember the limestone building being used for Egg and Poultry processing. this industry gave the building 30 years of its history. In tribute to all those who have worked long hours candling eggs and preparing chickens, we dedicate this room. The Crate Suite features a two person whirlpool bath, queen bed, private entry, private bath and comfortable full size futon for additional guest.
Egg Jacuzzi Suite - This suite tucked in on the lowest level is reminiscent of the buildings original use for cold storage. Ice was cut from the nearby mill ponds and brought here for goods to be stored. The exposed limestone walls warmly invite you to a simpler time. The Egg Suite offers a two person whirlpool bath, queen bed, private entrance and adjoining room that can be rented for extra guest. The Boat Suite - The Root River winds through area fields alongside the bluffs. Guest are provided with opportunities to see the picturesque landscape by kayak, canoe, or inner tube. Each year many fly fisherman can be found casting their lines. A day on the river is complete with an evening of relaxation in a double whirlpool bath and queen bed. This handicap accessible suite has a private bath. The Farm Loft Suite - In bluff country, rolling hills give way to rich fertile farm lands. Majestic bluffs bring joy to our visiting friends amid a beautiful area that is supported by both tourism and the local farming industry. The Farm Suite honors the live and work of the local farmer. Sit in a hay mow loft, soak in a double whirlpool bath and enjoy the warm of an iron-claw fireplace. A queen bed, two twin futons and a private bath are the classic amenities of this suite The Forest Suite - The Lanesboro area has many natural forest settings. Beautiful hardwoods and stately pines are testimony to the area goals of sustainability and ecologically friendly land management. The Forest Suite provides a nature scent, with a bubbling double whirlpool bath, a hardwood queen size bed adorned with forest leaves, mini-kitchenette, and private bath. |
