| High Street House is cosy, comfortable, clean and, most importantly, it’s our home. We welcome all our guests as friends and hope that your stay with us becomes part of your holiday/break and not just ‘some bed & breakfast’ we stayed at’.
We’re not flash, we don’t provide ‘home-made muesli’ or ‘fresh salmon caught this morning’, what we do provide is a straight forward, quality English breakfast (vegetarians are, of course, catered for) in a warm homely atmosphere at a realistic, affordable price. Because High Street House is a small guesthouse, there are just four bedrooms ( all en-suite), it enables us to maintain the homely ambience that so many of our guests have made reference to. If Floral Wallpaper, Plastic Flowers and Pictures of Mountains on the wall are important to your holiday then we’re probably not the right place for you as we don’t have any! We also provide an inexpensive personal hair cutting service as Ray is a qualified hairdresser! Situated in High Street, Windermere we are within a hundred yards of the rail/bus terminus and less than a minute’s walk from all of the amenities in Windermere village (cafes, restaurants, bars post office etc.) Walk a little further and you find yourself on the shores of Lake Windermere, England’s largest and, arguably, most beautiful lake. |
