Built as a hunting lodge in 1740 and enlarged in 1850 to become a country retreat. Owners included the Earls of Shelbourne and the 5th Marquis of Lansdowne while Danial O'Connell is listed as being amoung one of the frequent visitors. The Lodge is idealy situated in the heart of the midlands.
A country retreat suitable for very small groups who wish to travel the midlands, to relax with good food, a glass of wine or Tullamore dew, in front of open fires, or perhaps play some golf or walk along the canal, or through the Slieve Bloom mountains. The house is a breakaway from all the hustle and bustle of city life and is therefore not suitable accommodation for children.
