Balaggan Farm has a herd of breeding cows, with crops grown for winter feed.
We are situated close to the mysterious Clava Cairns and standing stones, built in prehistoric times. Also nearby is the famous Culloden Battlefield where Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated in 1746.
Balaggan Farm is an ideal base for exploring the local scenery and touring historic sights.
Cawdor Castle is another favourite close by and is well worth a visit for its gardens and woodland walks, as well as its beautiful interior. Nearby Brodie Castle also has lovely grounds and splendid rooms open to the public.
Inverness, Capital of the Scottish Highlands is just 8 miles from Balaggan Farm.
Many special events take place throughout the year including the Highland Games, Inverness Tattoo and music festivals. You can visit the castle, art gallery, museum and cathedral. The city has a good selection of shops and restaurants.
No visit to the Highlands is complete without a trip to Loch Ness. Take a cruise and see if you can spot the monster or discover the pretty villages of Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus with a stop at the ruins of Urquhart Castle.
In less than 2 hours you can be on the west coast, or to the east, the famous Whisky Trail is also within easy driving distance. You'll be spoilt for choice as to where to go!
