From Rosebank House we have watched herons, a variety of tits and many other birds together with red squirrels.
The back gate leads from the garden to a tennis court and picnic area from which it is possible to explore the burns and glades and perhaps walk a little further on to the Kingshouse Hotel at Balquhidder.
There is an abundance of good walking in the area ranging from gentle strolls along the cycle path and forestry tracks through to ascents of the sixteen nearby Munros and many Corbetts, Grahams and Donalds. The ascent of nearby Ben Shean is a short but fairly strenuous walk which is rewarded by excellent panoramic views. Winter walking offers its own special delights with magnificent vistas of snow-capped peaks to be feasted upon!
Strathyre is well situated for exploring much of Scotland. The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Glencoe, the Arrochar Alps and Stirling are all within easy reach by car.The more adventurous may choose to drive to Oban and catch a ferry to one of the islands. |
