Carlton College occupies 6 triple-storey Italianate Victorian terraces & provides accommodation for travellers all year round & student accommodation during the academic year. Between mid- December & mid-February our capacity is around 250 backpackers. From mid-February to mid-December, 3 or 4 of the buildings are dedicated to student accommodation, leaving room for up to 100 backpackers. The buildings are old & homely, staff are friendly & very helpful, & we are definitely not a ‘party hostel’.

It’s just a short walk to the City Centre & many of Melbourne’s major attractions, parks & gardens, around the corner from Lygon Street, with its great restaurants, shops, pubs & nightclubs & 10 minutes walk from the Melbourne Transit Centre.
