| Plum Cottage is right in the countryside yet convenient for exploring a huge variety of places of natural and historic interest. As well as exploring Winchester, Alton and Jane Austen's House time can be well-spent visiting Salisbury, Stonehenge, Portsmouth, the Royal Horticultural Society's Wisley Gardens, the Winchester Butterfly Conservation fields, local woods, stately homes and gardens. There are many interesting pubs and restaurants in the area. The visits will require transport. However by simply walking from the house the Three Castles walk, the Ox-drovers Path or the Pilgrim's Way can be explored and enjoyed. Picnics can be supplied. The accommodation consists of a large double/twin room downstairs with an interleading room and bed for a child. An extra bed or travel cot can be added. There is a shower and toilet near but not en suite. The bedroom and shower are wheelchair accessible. As well as this there are single rooms upstairs with adjacent bathroom. Television is available in the rooms. There is a large garden with organically grown vegetables and chickens. It links directly into a small Woodland Trust wood. |
