| Sunnybank is a gorgeous late Georgian/early Victorian detached residence built in traditional Yorkshire stone. It nestles on the Holme Valley hillside and is set in two acres of mature wooded gardens. Whilst we are on the edge of the Peak District National Park, we are also less than a 1/3rd of a mile from the centre of Holmfirth; the quaint little town featured in the long running TV series ‘Last Of The Summer Wine’. Indeed, next door to Sunnybank is St John’s Church which is the final resting place for Bill Owen, the much loved ‘Compo’ character. Within walking distance there are many good pubs, bars and restaurants and only a short drive away are lots of excellent pub restaurants. There is a local cinema, which also acts as a superb venue for some top quality live acts. Recent attractions include Joan Armatrading, Ocean Colour Scene and Steve Harley. We are ideally positioned for walkers, cyclists, sightseers, business people and weekenders. We offer stylish, top quality accommodation and ample secure parking.
Breakfast is a special experience at Sunnybank. Served in the oak panelled dinning room with an open fire and wonderful bay window views across the Holme Valley. We use local produce wherever possible. Our eggs are never more than two days old and we are very lucky to have top award winning butchers and farm shops on our doorstep. Even closer is our neighbour, Mr Brown, who supplies us with delicious honey from his own hives. Sunnybank is unlicensed but you are welcome to bring your own 'tipple' which we will happily refrigerate for you.
Sunnybank has been awarded four Diamonds by the English Tourist Board for the level of service and the quality of our accommodation. Both rooms are en-suite. The large Valley View Room can be set up as a twin, as a super king size double or as a family room with a third bed. It has a beautiful art deco desk doubling as a dressing table and easy chairs next to the fireplace to relax in. The en-suite is a stylish marble bathroom with walk in shower and roll top bath in which you can bathe and watch the sheep on the hillside opposite. The second room overlooks the rear gardens and patio. From here you will often see the local heron trying their luck at our pond. Furnished with a sumptuously comfortable antique double bed and attention to detail being our watchwords, the room is stylishly decorated with crisp white linen and silk bedspreads complimenting the period furniture. Both rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, mineral water, hair dryers, top of the range pillows and TVs (and video player in the Valley View room).
