Visit some of the many attractions or go for a stroll along the beach to Pagham Harbour and enjoy the views. Great for bird watchers and walking. Pagham Harbour ( hide and ferry pool ). - Across the road from the hide is the Ferry Pool. It is shallow, slightly salty, and one of the best birdwatching spots in West Sussex. In spring and autumn many migrating waders stop here to rest and feed before continuing their long-distance journeys. Redshank, Dunlin, Common and Curlew Sandpipers and Ruff are all commonly seen here. Rarer birds such as Avocets, Little Stint and Little Ringed Plover occur regularly and there is always a chance of a real rarity at migration times. This photo shows the Ferry Pool at sunset. Pagham Harbour ( Visitor centre ). - Pagham Harbour has been a Nature Reserve since 1964 and consists of nearly 1,600 acres of saltmarsh, reedbeds, shingle beaches and farmland. Lots more information is available at the visitor centre which is open weekends throughout the year. Pagham Harbour (marshes ). - A view over the saltmarsh and reedbeds. The Cross in Chichester Town centre. - The Cross is in the heart of Chichester Town centre, with all the streets meeting together at the Cross-West, North, South and East street. The Lifeboat Station. - A view of the Lifeboat Station 300 yards from Keston House. View along the promenade - View of the beach 200 yards from Keston House. Just a little bit further along you will come to the Lifeboat Station where you will be able to find out all the history on the Selsey Lifeboat. Then pop into the Lifeboat pub, which is close to the Lifeboat Station, and enjoy a drink or bar snack or a full meal in the restaurant ( booking may be required ). West street in Chichester town centre. - West street is where the Chichester Cathedral is just to the right of this photo. Visit the Cathedral and then indulge in some great shops, enjoy a drink or a spot of lunch. |
