| Deep in the Weald of Kent, Charcott Farmhouse forms part of an old farm homestead tucked behind the tiny hamlet of Charcott surrounded by open fields and woodland. The 3 twin bedrooms (2 en-suite & 1 with private bathroom) are furnished in pretty traditional country styles and all have central heating, tea & coffee making facilities, mineral water and hairdryer. One of the rooms is on the ground floor. Guests also have the use of a small sitting room where they can relax in front of a colour TV or browse the local guide books.
Breakfasts, cooked on the kitchen Aga, are eaten communally round the old oak dining-room table with individual menus and timings to suit. Accompanied by mounds of home-made bread, they range from a simple continental through to scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, home cooked ham, kippers, and of course a traditional fried breakfast with eggs, sausages, tomato, large field mushrooms and bacon. Other delights can include escallopes wrapped in bacon or waffles served with maple syrup. Wherever possible products are organic and locally sourced and eggs are fresh from the family flock of free-range hens. Special diets can generally be catered for provided enough notice is given.
For evening meals the Greyhound pub is a five minute walk down the drive with the recently re-furbished Little Brown Jug a 10 minute walk across the old local aerodrome.
Many of Kent's best loved sights are within easy reach - Penshurst Place, The National Trust village of Chiddingstone, Hever Castle, Chartwell and Knole Park being the most local. Ightham Mote, Groombridge Place, Leeds Castle and Sisinghurst are all within an hour and trains run hourly to London from Penhurst Station - a 10 minute walk away.
Hosts Nick and Ginny Morris are friendly and welcoming and will do their best to make sure you have an enjoyable stay with many happy memories to take home with you.
Please note: Charcott Farmhouse operates a strict non smoking policy throughout and has 3 resident cats and Fen, our new young labrador. Well behaved children and pets welcome.
