Our large bathroom is superbly equipped including separate shower and bath. Hair dryers and fresh towels are also provided. There is ample off-road parking and our traditional breakfasts are highly recommended. Local places to visit include Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe & Loch Etive (splendid views and Cruises), Ben Cruachan with its Hydro-Electric Power Station, the famous Pass of Brander, where William Wallace & Robert Bruce both fought battles, beautiful Glen Orchy with its rapids & waterfalls, and old Inveraray Town on Loch Fyne – the home of the Dukes of Argyll – with its castle, famous jail and maritime museum. Scotland’s first National Park, covering Loch Lomond and the Trossachs area, is only five miles away, and magnificent Ben Lui (3,700 ft), at its NW corner, is just one of many splendid views from Dunnottar. A wide range of sporting activities abound here. Dalmally’s fine golf course is just a short drive, and others are at Taynuilt, Inveraray & Oban. Permits for fishing on Loch Awe, from shore or boat, are available from local shops. This is a popular area for walkers and climbers and there are a number of Munros close by, in the Ben Cruachan range, & Glen Strae. The West Highland Way long distance path runs through Tyndrum and across the northern end of Glen Orchy, whilst awesome Glencoe is a few miles further on. There are also many forest walks and cycle routes around Loch Awe, Loch Etive and Loch Fyne. Oban has a modern sports complex and sailing, canoeing and diving centres. Further afield the list is endless! Sail to Iona, Mull, Staffa (Fingal’s Cave), Jura and Islay from Oban, or just browse around this busy, cosmopolitan port. Travel north to Fort William, Ben Nevis, Skye and Loch Ness, or east, via Loch Tay to Pitlochry, Blair Castle and Perth. Visit Stirling Castle and the Wallace Memorial, Loch Lomond, Mull of Kintyre, prehistoric Kilmartin Glen, and the beautiful Crinan Canal – and much, much more! Non-smokers only please.
