| The hotel has over the years been updated, expanded and modernised but always in keeping with the originality of the building where history documents show that parts of the hotel date back as far as 1601. The Lion Hotel has charm and a warmth that is expected of such a building whilst offering the guests all the modern amenities expected of a hotel today. All 46 bedrooms have ensuite facilities and include TV, trouser press, hairdryer, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and free wi fi access. The hotel offers stadnard rooms and executive rooms as well as feature rooms such as the Rufford Suite with a queen sized mud bed, and in addition to that family suites comprising of one double bedded room, one twin bedded room, a lounge and shared bathroom. One even has its own kitchen. The hotel has five conference rooms seating up to 200 delegates theatre style to a smaller conference room for one to one interviews. The function rooms are also ideal for those family celebrations, and three of the rooms are licensed for Civil Ceremonies, Civil Partnerships and Naming Ceremonies. Bar 114 is open all day every day and serves delicious, traditional home cooked food along with offering a wide range of real ales, beers, lagers, wines, spirits, soft drinks and a comprehensive hot drinks menu. Savannahs Restaurant and Lounge offers a more intimate environment which is more modern and contemporary in decor and design. A table d'hote menu is served and changes daily offering variety and choice and starts from £19.95 for a three course meal and coffee. The outdoor patio garden offers a blaze of colour from the hanging baskets and hakes allowing you to sit back and relax in the fresh air. |
