| Glen Esk - The Rocks of Solitude - Glen Esk is just after Edzell, a lovely village with fantastic Golf Course and Castle - and a great stop-over for coffees and ice cream at the local cafe on the High Street. There is a steepish climb down to the Rocks - a stunning river and waterfall await you there - so flip-flops not advised! Montrose Basin - Swan in majestic glide - Montrose Basin through the Viaduct - A stunning Tidal Lagoon which is a Nature Reserve of International Importance and is visible at the end of our street! Please see the websites below for more stunning photos and lots of information about the wildlife and activities here. There is a wonderful Visitor Centre, which is open all year, overlooking the Basin just beyond the viaduct. The wildlife can be viewed through large telescopes and there are always knowledgeable enthusiasts to help you identify bird and wildlife. I saw a kingfisher for the first time while there - and a Sea Eagle!! Not to mention the herons, warblers, ospreys, peregrine falcons... I could go on... http://www.montrosebasin.org.uk/ http://www.swt.org.uk/visit/visitor-centres/montrose-basin-visitor-centre/ Montrose Basin via Viaduct - wider view - Montrose Beach - The Beach is within walking distance - as is all of Montrose! Miles of sand and dunes... Montrose Golf Courses are here, along with a Pavilion where bikes can be hired and with a superbly imaginative children's playground and lovely cafe with yummy home-made cakes!
