| Built in 1826 as Lord Portman's hunting lodge, The Portman Arms became a pub in the early 1900's. With real log fires and Marstons fine Ales it has the feel of an 18th century inn, keeping the traditional character of that time. Nestled in the heart of the Somerset countryside, The Portman Arms sits at the heart of the beautiful and idyllic village of East Chinnock, located approximately 4 miles west of Yeovil and 5 miles from Crewekerne on the main A30. We've been welcoming weary travellers for a very long time and whether you simply stop en route, or intend too enjoy a longer stay in our comfortable accommodation, we’re sure you’ll remember the experience that 'The Portman Arms' offers.
We have a large beer garden for the 'grown ups' and an extensive play area, enclosed within a traditional stone wall and tree lined garden environment for the children too burn away that excess energy and fill their lungs with fresh Somerset air.
Enjoy a freshly prepared meal with us and sample our home cooked dishes. Many of our ingredients come from local Somerset producers and growers. We strongly believe in supporting our local area and in using the freshest produce available for our menu.
Take a Sunday drive and stop too try our traditional Carvery Lunch, served up with all the traditional trimmings. Available every Sunday between 12.00 and 3.00pm.
Yeovil town centre itself is only a short drive away, and the stunning Dorset and Devon coastlines are a mere 40 minute drive. Beautiful coastal towns such as Bridport and Lyme Regis are literally on our doorstep, situated along the Jurassic coast line running from Budleigh Salterton near Exmouth too Portland near Weymouth.
The team at 'The Portman Arms' look foward too welcoming you all.
