Beckford's enjoys an open view over roof tops to a wooded hillside, fields and villas. A very English view, in the words of one guest who stayed. Part of the beauty of Bath is its natural surroundings. In Winter, the tower of the Abbey, which is lit up at night, is visible from the rooms; in Summer, however, this view is blocked by a chestnut tree in full leaf.
Some bed and breakfasts like to call themselves hotels or guest houses, and Fodor, in its UK guide, Affordable Britain, refers to "the Bed and Breakfast and their snooty cousin, the guest house". Beckford's Hotel or Beckford's Guest House, we are not. What we are is a Bed & Breakfast in a Victorian residence and what we try to offer is a good service.Richard Stirling, the AA Hotel Inspector, described the rooms as spacious, and, I think, this describes the house, too, with its wide hall and landing and high ornate ceilings. Once you register at Beckford's, you have a set of keys, which gives you the freedom to come and go when you want. There is visitor information in each room. However, if you have questions about what to see or what to do or where to eat, please, please ask. We look forward to seeing you!
