|Picture yourself on a high craggy bluff looking out over a protected natural harbor and tree covered islands to the North Atlantic. Lighthouses and rocky coastline grace the far distance. You are standing on the magnificent wrap around, covered porch of Grey Havens. The view is absolutely breath taking and has been the subject of catalog photo shoots, book and magazine covers (Down East Magazine), numerous articles in other media, calendars, and countless weddings.|
Built in 1904 Grey Havens is now listed in the National register of Historic Places. Two acres of pure ocean front relaxation. There is a deep water dock and two deep moorings, well sheltered even during the worst winter storms. If you want to reach into your soul and find some peace from the rigors of the real world just sit on the dock for an hour or so!
Grey Havens has frequently been referred to as a 'castle-by-the-sea' with its two tall round turrets. Its imposing majesty on the coastline is so proud and clear that she is often used as a navigational aid by sailors and local lobstermen. Facing East the sunrises are truly inspiring - for the early risers among you, - and the full moon radiates and shimmers across the water. This is a place of relaxation, of peace away from modern distractions such as phones and television. Guests come here to sit, to rejuvenate, to read, and, above all, to escape. There is nowhere quite like it.
