The restaurant has high-quality Yorkshire fare and fresh produce. The hotel offers a warm welcome and is ideal for visits to the Yorkshire Coast. First World War poet, Wilfred Owen, was inspired to write some of his most famous works here. North Bay is ideal for families with its year-round activities, including Peasholm Park with its pedal boats, shows and the famous Navel Warfare; and Scarborough Sea Life Centre. At the end of your day, relax and watch the world go by in the large hotel lounge or the traditional British bar with large-screen TVs. Bedrooms come in traditional and modern styles.
In late 1917, Wilfred Owen was posted to a reserve battalion, based at The Clifton Hotel, (then known as The Clarence Gardens Hotel). Here he produced "Miners," the first of his poems to be published. The hotel's elegant Castle Ballroom offers a delightful setting for social functions, from cocktail parties to birthday parties, wedding receptions and dinner dances. |
