Hernes is a fascinating house that twists and turns through the ages - a little Elizabethan, some Georgian and a touch of Victoria and Edwardian for good meansure. The same family has lived here for five generations. From the hall with its open fire and piano you ramble into the heart of the house. The bedrooms are specious (especilly the four poster) and the bathrooms are lovingly equipped. It is a much loved family home where tradition is treated with respect.
Extensive grounds, fields and parkland surround Hernes for it is the centre of a working farm. It is uniquely placed for taking river trips on the Thames, exploring Oxford, Windsor, Eton and many other local stately homes and gardens, or for extended excursions to London, Stratford, Warwick, Bath and the Cotswolds. Driving time to Heathrow is about 30min in normal traffic conditions.
Hernes can also offer the following facilities:
a sleeps two self catering lodge cottage (please refer to the website - www.herneshenley.com) for weekly hire. Weekend and mid week breaks are also available during low season and occasionally (at the last minute) during high season.
and the grounds and gardens for very individual wedding receptions.
