|Torguish House is a beautifully restored manse, and the childhood home of the celebrated author Alistair MacLean. It’s the perfect base for your Highland holiday with en-suite B&B for short stays and self-catering cottages for longer stays, situated in lovely wooded grounds, yet convenient for the A9 and just 4 miles from Inverness.
B&B rooms include twin, double, family/group, and some have four-poster beds. All are en-suite. Our cosy cottages, converted from traditional farm buildings, sleep 2-4.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the lovely wooded grounds, and to browse the on-site antique shop. Popular attractions in the area include Culloden Battlefield with its fabulous new visitor centre, the atmospheric Clava Cairns, the Moray Firth Dolphins, several distilleries, Cawdor Castle, the Cairngorms National Park, Ardclach Bell Tower, 8 RSPB nature reserves including Loch Garten Osprey Centre, the mysterious Burghead Well, Fort George, the famous Loch Ness and romantic Urquhart Castle. From Torguish you can also take a daytrip to John O’Groats, the Isle of Skye, the West Coast, or even the Orkney Isles if you get up early enough!
There’s plenty of offroad parking with undercover parking for motorbikes, communal lounge with hardwired internet access, payphone (in traditional red telephone box!), walled garden, woodland walks, and a drying area is available for cyclists, walkers, bikers, climbers, etc.
B&B price includes a hearty Highland breakfast to set you up for a good day out and about.
