Ten minutes from accomodation is Coppeen village which is located on the Bantry Line (R585) in the beautiful countryside of West Cork, roughly 30 minutes from Cork City. The area is rich in terms of history and culture and features a wealth of archaeological sites such as ringforts, megalithic tombs and standing stones, including the unique Cahirvagliair Ring Fort. Also located nearby are the Kilmichael Ambush, Béal na mBláth Monument, and Kinneigh Round Tower.
A walks system encircles the area, providing signed walking routes of different lengths and points of interest. The quiet country roads provide an idyllic setting for a Sunday ramble with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding areas. Maps of the walks system are available in The Village Store shop and Barretts Bar in the village, which provides a great luncheon service with soup and sandwiches available, plus of course, a refreshing beverage after an enjoyable walk.
